Honest Answers
The questions we get most. Answered straight.
Will these actually last? Solar lights I've bought before died in 6 months.
Yes — and we know exactly which lights you're thinking of. Dollar-store solar stake lights that lose their charge after one cloudy week. Luxent uses higher-grade lithium cells and weather-sealed solar panels rated for 2–3 outdoor seasons before any noticeable drop. Every piece is also backed by our 60-day satisfaction guarantee — if it isn't right, send us a photo and we'll make it right.
Do they look cheap in person?
Honest answer: cheaper than a $400 hardwired sconce, more premium than a $9 garden stake. The Lantern is a real metal hanging shadow lantern. The Sconce is a sealed wall-mount with up-and-down light. The Flicker has a true flickering amber LED, not a plastic candle wobble. We don't pretend these are luxury — we just don't make them look like they came from a discount store.
How bright is “warm and ambient”? I need actual numbers.
Most pieces sit between 80–200 lumens at warm color temperatures (2700K–3000K — same as candlelight or a dimmed living room lamp). Bright enough to see by, soft enough to set a mood. If you need flood-light brightness for security, we're the wrong brand.
What happens in winter or on cloudy weeks?
Our solar panels charge even on overcast days, just slower. Most pieces hold a charge for 1–2 cloudy days. In northern winters with snow piling on panels, you'll see reduced runtime — which is why several pieces also include a USB backup charging port. Plug them in for 4 hours and you're good for the week.
Will they get stolen?
The Stairlight has anti-theft mounting hardware. Everything else is held in place by stakes, hooks, or screws. We've shipped tens of thousands of units — theft is genuinely rare for solar garden lighting. They're not high-resale items.
Is this just decoration, or actually useful?
Both. The Stairlight prevents trips. The Sconce defines your house's edges after dark. The Flicker makes evenings last 90 minutes longer. The Galaxy turns your patio into something out of a film. The line between “useful” and “beautiful” doesn't need to exist for outdoor lighting.
How long do they run per night?
8–10 hours after a full sunny day's charge. 4–6 hours on cloudy days. Dusk-to-dawn sensors mean you don't have to think about it — they turn on at sunset and off at sunrise.
Will my yard actually look like the photos?
Mostly yes — though our product photos are taken at dusk for a reason. The light reads its best in low ambient light. If your porch light is blasting next to it, the magic dilutes. Turn the porch light off and yes — it really does look like that.
Can I install these myself? Do I need tools?
Yes, and no. Stake lights go in the ground by hand. Hanging pieces clip to existing hooks. The Stairlight and Sconce use adhesive mounting (no drilling) or screws if you prefer permanent. Most setups take 5–15 minutes for a full yard.
